Edward IV Silver Groat (Light coinage 1464-70)
Found by Steve Richards. Edward IV light coinage groat from
the period 1464 to 1470. Below is a clod shot photo taken by Steve
just after the coin was unearthed. First light after 543 years! When
Steve goes metal detecting he always takes with him his Panasonic
Lumix FS15 with Leica lens digital camera. A good idea it seems.

Below: Steve's Edward IV Groat showing 'B' for Bristol mint on the King's breast.
Quatrefoils at either sides of neck. There is a crown mintmark for 1468-1469

Coins 1685 onwards Category
George III Silver Halfcrown dated 1817
Found by club member Peggy Colnet, we have a Georgian silver Halfcrown
dated 1817 in fantastic condition. The coin is a small head laurete version
halfcrown with crown garter and shield on the obverse. When this coin was
produced back in 1817, (just two years after the battle of Waterloo) steam
powered minting machinery (made by Boulton and Watt) had just been
introduced, replacing the older hand-operated presses that had been used
before. These machines minted superior coins to the older milled coins and
as you can see the coin is well defined. Well done Peggy on a great find.

Late Georgian Gilded Book Furniture
This impressive artefact was found by Dave Williamson whilst getting
to grips with his new Whites Spectra V3 detector at our recent club
search near Lydstep. The metal is nicely decorated and may once
have belonged to a very large book or more likely a Holy Bible.

Modern Finds Category
Cardiff Pals Battalion (Welsh Regiment) Badge
Found by Alan Grice while also using a new detector,
this time an xp Deus! The find is a badge dating back
to the early part of the 1914-18 Great War. This is an
interesting find that reflects a piece of history when towns
and villages formed up Pals Battalions in which men could
enlist with their mates and then go off to fight in the trenches.
Sadly many of the Pals Battalions were wiped out on the first
day of the Battle of the Somme on 1st July 1916

Finds Outside of Pembrokeshire Category
Bronze Medieval Ring Brooch with Turrets
Wonderful medieval find found in Wiltshire by Kevin Higgs.
The brooch has six raised turrets which may have once held
small coloured stones or possibly contained a paste (very
often white paste). A remnant of the pin is still attached.
Examples of this type of brooch can be seen in the book
Benets Artefacts. Have a good look at this object. I wonder,
would you have thrown it away if you had found it? Thinking
it was a small cog off an old tractor! Why am I worried!

Non-Metalic Finds Category
The Fossilised Mid-Section of a Young Turtle
In this newly introduced category we have a fossil found by Kevin Higgs.
The fossil was picked up by Kevin whilst detecting in Wiltshire.
